Stunning colourful, earthenware from this historic Portuguese factory, handmade and painted by artisans since 1880. The company's founder, Raphael Bordallo (1846 -1905), who was an artist and subversive socialist who liked to poke fun at late 19th Century Portuguese society. A sculptor, interior designer and publisher of satirical newspapers, his dream was to elevate everyday tableware to the standards of porcelain pieces, at the time the preserve of the upper classes. In the present-day, Bordallo Pinheiro continues the artists' legacy creating ceramics using traditional manufacturing techniques, just as the Artist would have used creating eye-catching Tableware and Dinnerware.
